THE UNSEEN SPIRAL
Waste reduction efforts at the fair.
The Story
Dimensions: 15’ x 9’ x 16’
Medium: Upcycled aseptic containers (ex: rice milk), trash, bamboo, rebar.
Collaborators: Annie Douglas of Cascadia Research Collective, The Oregon Country Fair.
This giant leatherback sea turtle highlights the waste reduction efforts, and problem materials of the Oregon Country Fair. It draws a connection between what we do on land and the health of the oceans. The inside of the turtle is open, allowing people to walk under and experience the inside of the shell, which has a representation of the Pacific Garbage Patch made from trash collected at the fair, and strung together by kids.
